A Closet He Can Finally Call His Own
How we helped a Fairfax homeowner settle into his new space — and start every morning without the hunt.
A Fresh Start That Needed a System
He had the closet. Easily one of the nicest walk-ins we’ve worked in — custom built-ins, a dedicated shoe wall, center island with drawers. Everything was there.
But moving in had meant carrying a whole life’s worth of stuff across the threshold and tucking it wherever it fit. Six months later, the shelves were buried. The floor had become a landing zone. Getting dressed meant digging.
That’s when his wife called us.
We started by pulling everything out — clothes, shoes, accessories, the collection of things that accumulate when there’s no system to stop them. From there, we sorted what earned a place in the daily wardrobe and what had been keeping the closet too full to function.
Then we built it back with intention. Hanging sections organized by category — suits, dress shirts, casual, workout — so the eye could find things immediately. The center shelving unit became home for personal items and well-placed bins. The shoe wall sorted by type and occasion. Labeled felt bins across the lower shelving gave seasonal things their own place so they stopped competing for space with the everyday.
